Its seems that she feels unworthy to him because of the way she speaks about his looks and his families money.

What is the main concern of Mrs. Vane? Is there anything Ironic about her feelings?

Discuss Jim's feelings in regards to Dorian?

Chapter 8-9

Discussion Questions:
Discuss events the morning after Dorian’s rejection of Sibyl.
Dorian looks at the portrait and find it has definitely changed. Lord Henry comes and tells him of Sibyl’s death and the possibility that it was suicide. At first Dorian feels remorse, but, under Lord Henry’s manipulation, comes to view the death as a sign of Sibyl’s selfishness and a token of her great love for him. He decides that he will enjoy the sensual pleasures of life, knowing that his portrait will reflect the aging and corruption.

What is the legend of Narcissus? Compare and contrast Dorian’s self-love with that of Narcissus and Narcissus’ treatment of Echo with the way Dorian has treated Sibyl.
Dorian is consumed with love of himself, sits enamored in front of his portrait for hours, and has feigned kissing the portrait. Many women fell in love with Narcissus because of his great beauty, but he spurned their advances. They nymph Echo, who had been condemned by the goddess Hera never to speak again, loved Narcissus, and she eventually died because of Narcissus’ cruelty. The avenging goddess Nemesis caused Narcissus to fall hopelessly in love with the reflection of his own face. Unable to leave his image, he died, and the flower of narcissus grew where his body had lain. Dorian, consumed with his own self-love and his rejection of Sibyl because of her failure to meet his expectations, causes her death.

.

Analyze the conversation between Dorian and Basil about the portrait and why Basil has changed his mind about exhibiting it.
Dorian refuses to allow Basil to see the portrait and threatens to end their friendship if he insists. Both men have a secret: Basil has not been willing to exhibit the portrait because he has become absorbed with Dorian to the point of worship. As he painted the portrait, he had put too much of himself into it. Dorian has observed the changes in the portrait and fears that Basil will see the changes. Basil confesses his secret, Dorian continues to hide his.

Analyze Dorian’s concealment of the portrait and the meaning of the sentence, “What the worm was to the corpse, his sins would be to the painted image on the canvas”
He symbolically covers the portrait with a large, purple satin coverlet such as might have served as a covering for coffin. He knows that, just as worms destroy a corpse, his own sins will destroy his image in the portrait, marring its beauty and eating away its grace. Unlike a corpse, however, the portrait will always be alive. He hides the picture in the room where he spent much of his lonely childhood. Ironically, he recalls his purity as a child in contrast to the sins the portrait reveals.

Discuss the yellow book Lord Henry sends Dorian?
The Yellow book is like a scripture that prophesizes Dorian’s life.

Examine the 2 sides of Dorian and the effect of his decline on the portrait.
There are two sides to Dorian the innocent side that is the one that loathes what he sees when he looks at the painting and the side that loves what he sees when he looks in the mirror.
Identify and discuss the significance of the variety of things with which Dorian attempts to satisfy his worship of the senses.
He starts to fill his life with a variety of beautiful things.

Analyze why Dorian is drawn to the power of the jewels and what they symbolize
The jewels symbolize the undying beauty that he cannot attain.

Examine the overpowering fear that grips Dorian and the influence the yellow book has on him.
The Fear that grips Dorian is the fear of his own mortality that the yellow book brings to light.

Chapter 10

Identify and discuss the significance of the variety of things with which Dorian attempts to satisfy his worship of the senses.
All of those things are a means for Dorian to surround himself with beauty.

What does the following quote means: "What the work was to the corpse, his sins would be to the painted image on the canvas.....And yet the thing would still live. It would be always alive" (pg. 153).

What is it about Dorian that seems to charm everybody? Why?
Dorian’s good looks seems to charm everyone he meets.

How old is he in this chapter?
Dorian Gray in this chapter is 37 all though chapters 11-and 12 are a span that covers 18 years. In the beginning of chapter 11 He could have been as young as 19 years old.

Analyze why Dorian is drawn to the power of jewels and what they symbolize.
Dorian is drawn to the power of Jewels because of their unchanging beauty and they symbolize his own fate.

Examine the overpowering fear that grips Dorian and the influence of the yellow book has on him. Why does the "whole book seemed to him to contain the story of his own life, written before he lived it?"
The overpowering fear Dorian has is that of his own mortality and the effects that will cause to him physically. To him the book is like a scripture prophesizing his life as he lives it.

Dorian is obviously sinful, why is it then that "there was something in the purity of his face that rebuked [people]?"
The purity in his face is his conscience, the part of him that makes him loathe the painting as he looks into it and sees his self.

Discuss the "worshiping of the senses"
The worshiping of the senses is another way for Dorian to stay intellectually curious; he turns to the study of beautiful things as a way to continue his devotion toward asceticism.

What is meant by the "New Hedonism?"
“New Hedonism” is a form of resistance against the conventional morality that Lord Henry spends so much of his time criticizing.

Once again, what are the 7 deadly sins and identify any within this chapter.
The 7 deadly sins are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. In this chapter Gluttony occurs although not in every sense of the word, Gluttony of the mind due to his devotion to the study of beautiful things. Greed also in wanting to know everything about beautiful things. Pride also occurs when he looks at the painting.

Why is Dorian seemingly obsessed with materialistic things such as tapestry, jewelry etc.? It says that he sought to accumulate the most exquisite specimens...."
After watching himself change in the picture it seems that he is trying to surround himself with beauty.

How has Dorian changed from innocent to an experienced possibly over indulgent/obsessive
man?
As he becomes older and more senile he begins to get carried away with studying all things beautiful and it seems like he is trying to trap beauty.

Do you think his overindulgence in worldly/material things is a form of escapism? Explain.
What Dorian is doing is not hard to understand he is overcompensating for all the beauty dieing around him. He is continuously trying to escape his dreaded fate by surrounding himself with beauty.

Discuss any inference of homosexuality in this chapter.
In this chapter Dorian's love of beauty defiantly goes beyond inanimate objects and himself, he begins to see beauty in other men.

How has Dorian been poisoned by the book?
Dorian has become a crazed, senile, and paranoid due to the book.

Lord Henry gave him the book. How is Lord Henry's character demonized?
Lord Henry has become the puppet master of Dorian's life even when he’s not around; he continues to pull the strings.

Othello Act V Scene 2

Act V Scene ii

Desdemona’s bedroom.

Desdemona is asleep in bed. Othello enters the bedroom with a candle in his hand.

Othello: I have to kill her no matter what, or else she’ll be repeating her sinful deeds. But I won’t mess with her beauty by shedding blood. When I put out the light of this candle, that is when I put out the light from her heart. While she remains asleep, I should kiss her one more time.(he kisses her) The sweet smell of her persuades me not to let her die. But my intention is to strangle her to death, and nothing, not even her beauty should stray my mind from killing her.

Desdemona wakes up with the last kiss that Othello gives her.

Desdemona: Is that you darling?

Othello: (trying to hide his rage)Yes, Desdemona.

Desdemona: (sweetly)It’s pretty late in the night, aren’t you coming to bed honey?

Othello: (with subtle voice)Desdemona, have you said your payers tonight?

Desdemona: Yes I have, as usual Othello, you know that.

Othello: Very well, than you should know what sin you’ve committed, you might as well confessed that to God,(rages his voice)before your DEATH!

Desdemona’s countenance shows signs of horror. She grabs onto her quilt as if looking for support.

Desdemona: What are you talking about? You make no sense to me at all. You are speaking of death, my death?

Othello: (still with the rage)Yes Desdemona, yes you got that right.

Desdemona looks perplexed.

Desdemona: What sin have I committed, besides loving you Othello?

Othello: You know what Desdemona, you can’t try to cover your ugly side under your flawless skin.(shifts his head away from her to the floor, then looks back into her face)You may look innocent, but who knew, who knew you weren’t. Desdemona I have fallen for you, your beauty, and sweet talks. You just had to ruin it.

Desdemona: I still don’t understand. What confession?! What sin?!

Othello: (his voice sounds cold)SILENCE! How dare you raise your voice in front of me like that when you have no right whatever so for doing such a filthy thing.

Desdemona: Othello, my love, can you please get to the point, because I didn’t commit anything wrong to you(tears in her eyes, voice fraying away)...ever.

Othello: I’m not going to take your fake tears and show mercy on you. Okay, so if you’re not confessing, than you leave me no other choice. You have given Cassio the handkerchief that I have given you. The very handkerchief that I loved and given it to you. How can you give something that represented our love to someone else.

Desdemona: This is bogus...it’s all a lie. No it’s not true. How can you not trust me. Fine, then bring Cassio, for he shall give you the proof.

Othello: Don’t lie on your own deathbed, Desdemona. You cheated on me, and that’s the reality.

Desdemona: (her hands folded before him)Please have mercy, Othello. I have never loved Cassio more than just a loyal friend. He’s only a good friend, just like he is to you. Nothing more.

Othello: Don’t lie. I saw the handkerchief in his hands.

Desdemona: He must’ve found it somewhere, because I didn’t give it to him. Why don’t you just call him over here and he’ll tell you.

Othello: I already know the filthy truth...you slept with him. You slept with him, and that is why I murder you tonight.

Desdemona: He couldn’t have tell you that, has he?

Othello: No need for him to say it. Iago, my trusted buddy told me.(he puts a smirk on his face) He has prepared the end of Cassio’s life.

Desdemona: You don’t mean to say...Cassio’s dead!

Othello: I would kill as many Cassio’s if I have to.

Desdemona: No!(starts weeping) He’s innocent, and so am I.

Othello: And you say that you have no love for him, please, look at you crying for him, and how dare you lie you whore.

Desdemona: Don’t kill me. “Just let me live for tonight!”

Othello: Shut the hole. (Othello wrestles to put her down)

Desdemona: Let me say one prayer, I beg you!

Othello: I’ve given you the chance before, it’s too late now. (he smothers her with a pillow)

Offstage

Emilia calls out for Othello.

Emilia: General Othello! Oh general!

Onstage

Othello: Are you not dead yet. Even though I want you to be killed, I don’t want you suffering for too long.

Offstage

Emilia: General Othello! Can’t you hear me? General Othello!

Onstage

Othello: Who’s there? Is that you Emilia? I’m coming, give me a sec.(to himself)Yes she’s probably come with the news.(looks at Desdemona)She’s dead. Should I let her come in? What if she wants to talk to Desdemona. What should I do?

Offstage

Emilia: Please general, it’s important!

Onstage

Othello: Coming.(he covers Desdemona with the quilt, walks to the door and opens it)

Emilia enters.

Othello: (feeling disturbed)What is the matter?

Emilia: Murders general, murders!

Othello: Say what?

Emilia: Yes sir. Cassio killed Roderigo, a New Yorker.

Othello: (impatient)Is Cassio dead?

Emilia: No general.

Othello: (takes his two hands and puts it over his head, feeling anger)This has gone all wrong, no.

Desdemona: I’ve been accused wrongly.

Emilia uncovers Desdemona . Othello is tensed.

Emilia: madam, what did you say?

Desdemona: I’m dying.

Emilia: Who has done this to you madam?

Desdemona: No one Emilia, no one. I took my own life. Tell Othello I love him.

Desdemona takes her last breath. She dies.

Othello: How did she get killed?

Emilia: Oh God, who knows. Who could’ve done this?

Othello: I didn’t kill her, you heard what she said, didn’t you?

Emilia: I must go and tell about the incident.(Emilia walks with such haste)

Othello: Wait! It was me, I killed Desdemona.(Emilia halts, and turns back)

Emilia: You are so evil.

Othello: She was being unfaithful to me.

Emilia: You killed her for no good reason, you should regret it, because she was guiltless. She was so devoted to you.

Othello: Cassio slept with Desdemona. Now if you don’t trust my words, then go and ask your husband. He told me everything.

Emilia: (shocked) Iago said she was being unfaithful?

Othello: Yes, and if this was not true I would’ve never done this.

Emilia: My husband told you this?

Othello: Yes! Don’t you get it? It’s your husband who said it. The honest friend of mine.

Emilia: You have been given bogus information. My husband, Iago has mocked your love.

Othello takes out his gun.

Othello: Hmm. You have no where to escape.

Emilia: Go ahead kill me all you want, because by doing this won’t take you to heaven. You’ve killed my madam, the innocent one. That’s dreadful enough!

Othello: Will you shut your mouth?

Emilia: Help someone, there has been a murder, madam has been murdered! HELP!

Montano, Gratiano, and Iago barge into the chamber with the sound of Emilia’s cry.

Montano: What’s the matter, general?

Gratiano: What’s up with the noise?

Emilia: So Iago, have you played your noxious game. Think you’re very slick. Did you tell the general that madam has slept with Cassio.? If that’s true then you’ve lied to him.

Iago: Yes I have, indeed. Now keep quiet.

Emilia: No I’ll speak for my madam, because she here lays on her bed dead.

Gratiano, Montano: Oh no!!

Emilia: Iago, your lies have resulted to this murder.

Gratiano: This is astounding. How can this happen?

Montano: This is horrendous!

Emilia: You are no good. You evil thing. You’re a devil. You’ve ruined a peaceful relationship.

Iago: (to Emilia)Go home woman. NOW!

Emilia: I won’t.

Othello: Oh no.

Emilia: I told you. But no you wouldn’t listen. Went on and believed the wrong person.

Gratiano: Poor Desdemona. It’s good that my brother hasn’t lived to see this. Your father died of grief, because of your marriage. He would’ve been more hurt to see you like this.

Othello: Iago told me that she had slept with Cassio several times. Cassio had the handkerchief that I have given Desdemona, which she gave to him. Doesn’t that tell you that she loved him.

Emilia: Oh my God!

Iago: Shut up, and go home, if you know better.

Emilia: No!

Iago takes out his gun and points it to Emilia.

Gratiano: How do you point that gun to her?

Emilia bursts out.

Emilia: You freak, you idiot Moor. I found the handkerchief and handed it to my husband, for which he has told me steal it.

Iago: You slut!

Emilia: I found it and gave it to Iago.

Iago: She’s lying.

Emilia: No I’m not. It’s true. He fooled you, you Moor, you piece of shit.

Othello: What have I done. Go to hell you piece of crap. You made me kill my Desdemona.

Othello dashed at Iago. Iago shoots Emilia.

Gratiano: She’s been shot.

Emilia: Run all you want. You can escape these men, but you can’t escape from God, you’ll end up being in hell.

Gratiano: Iago left, Emilia’s going to die.

Montano: (to Gratiano)I’ll go after Iago, you take the gun from the general.

Gratiano, and Montano exit.

Emilia: (singing Desdemona’s song)“Willow, willow, willow.”- She never was unfaithful you foolish Moor.

Emilia dies.

Offstage

Gratiano: You have got to be killed, Othello. You have committed a grave sin.

Onstage

Othello: (he draws out a gun from inside his robes)Look at this, this is the greatest gun I’ve ever got. One shot of it, and you’re dead. (he talks to himself)Othello, you are so cruel. You are a fool. You have fallen for a lie. A lie that has caused me to kill my only love. Put me to hell God. I’ve done a grave sin. Oh my Desdemona, how could I.

Lodovico and Montano enter, followed by Cassio on a stretcher, and officers holding onto Iago with cuffs.

Lodovico: Where’s that general.

Othello: Looking for Othello? That’s me right here.

Lodovico: Where’s the villain, bring him here.

Iago moves forward. Othello attempts to shoot at him. He gets disarmed.

Lodovico: Take his gun away. Did you plan Cassio’s death with Iago?

Othello: Yes.

Cassio: Othello, my general, my friend, what have I done for you to have such hatred on me.

Othello: Forgive me my man, it was Iago who tricked me.

Lodovico: General, I think you don’t understand this situation very well. Here are two letters that tell about everything. They are from Roderigo. Here, read it for yourself.

Othello reads.

Othello: Oh no this is terrible. Roderigo has also been under his spell. Iago wanted his wealth. This is all awful. He made me have disgust on Cassio, and have me killed Desdemona. All of this for himself.

Cassio: Devil.

Lodovico: Othello, your power and command will be handed over to Cassio here, in Florida. Iago will be prisoner, he deserves torture, and with every torture he should regret that he has ever done this. Othello, you’ll also be arrested under charges of murder, in the meantime your case will be handed over to the New York court.(he orders)Arrest him.

Othello: Wait. I need to say a few words. (referring to Desdemona) I kissed you before I killed you. Now, I’m killing myself, and dying while I kiss you again. (he shoots himself)

Othello kisses Desdemona’s cold dead lips for once more and he dies.

Gratiano: This is sick.

Cassio: What can we say? Who knew he had a gun hidden there. He was a noble man, therefore he did this. I would know so, I’ve been his friend for a long time.

Lodovico: (to Iago)Look at this bloody scene. You are the reason they are all dead. Gratiano, you take the property of Othello, it is rightfully yours. Cassio, punish Iago. I’ll go and inform to New York about this tremendous tragedy.

They all exit.

Othello Act V Scene 1

Othello
Act V Scene i

Out on the street of Florida.

Iago and Roderigo enter.

Iago: (whispers to Roderigo) Wait here, this is our only chance, don’t mess this up. Keep your finger on the trigger.

Roderigo: Don’t go too far, something’s up.

Iago: I’ll be right over here hiding.

Iago moves aside.

Roderigo: You sure this is the only way, there’s no turning back? Once I pull this trigger he’s done.(pulls out his gun)

Iago: (to himself)My work here is done, it’s sure a win for me. If he kills Cassio I win, if Cassio kills Roderigo I win, if I kill Cassio then I win, if they kill each other I win(laughs, in silence)Oh I am so good. Here he comes.

Cassio enters.

Roderigo: I hear him, here he comes.(he shoots Cassio)

Cassio: (to Roderigo he points at the bulletproof vest)You should invest in a vest.(Cassio shoots Roderigo)

Roderigo: I’m hit, I’m hit.

Iago shoots Cassio in the leg from behind, then he exits.

Cassio: (in pain)My leg, I can’t feel my leg.

Othello enters.

Othello: (to himself)That’s Cassio, Iago must have got it done.

Roderigo: I’m a murderer.

Othello: Yup, you sure are.

From aside.

Cassio: Help me! Call the ambulance.

From aside.

Othello: (talking to himself )That’s the bold Iago. He even killed one to help a friend. I should learn something form you my man.(as if talking to Desdemona)You whore, I don’t have anything to do with you anymore. Your lover’s gone, and now it’s your turn die.

Othello exists. Lodovico and Gratiano enter.

Cassio: Help! Is anybody there?

From aside.

Gratiano: Something’s going on. That man sounds hurt.

From aside.

Cassio: Help!

From aside.

Lodovico: Do you hear that Gratiano?

From aside.

Roderigo: I’m such a murderer.

From aside.

Lodovico: Something is fishy, Gratiano. Do you hear that? Some guys are shouting out there in the dark. It’s better off if we don’t go there till we get some more men.

From aside.

Roderigo: If no one comes by now, I’m dead.(he looks at his shedding blood skeptically)Ah...look at all this blood.

Iago enters with a flashlight in his hand, and the beam of light hits into Gratiano’s face.

Gratiano: (with a hand over his face)Lower your flashlight man.

Iago approaches to where Gratiano and Lodovico are.

Iago: Who’s there? Who’s shouting like that?

Lodovico: How the heck are we supposed to know?

Iago: (to Gratiano and Lodovico) Didn’t you hear someone shouting?

From aside.

Cassio: I’m over here! Please help me.

Iago: What’s wrong?

Gratiano: (to Lodovico)That’s Othello’s lookout.

Lodovico: If he’s the general’s lookout, then he’s a good man.

Iago: (to Cassio)Who’s there yelling?

Cassio: (noticing Iago by his silhouette and his voice; relieved to see him)Is that you Iago? I’ve been shot. Please help.

Iago: (approaches to Cassio)Who did this to you?

Cassio: I think one of them is right over there. He’s also injured.

Iago: (calling out for Gratiano and Lodovico)Can you come and help?

From aside.

Roderigo: Someone help me! I’m losing a lot of blood. Help!

From aside.

Cassio: Hey, that’s one of the man who injured me.

Iago: (looks at Roderigo with great disgust)You killer!

Roderigo: (confused by his look)Damn Iago! What the hell is wrong with you all of a sudden?

Iago: (fakes it; goes to Roderigo)You’re a murderer Roderigo! What a shame.(he stabs Roderigo with a pocketknife; he hears footsteps)Who’s there? Another murderer?

Lodovico: Why don’t you look for yourself who I am.

Iago: Oh sorry, it’s you Lodovico.

Lodovico: You got that right.

Iago: Cassio is severely hurt.

Iago and Lodovico both go to Cassio.

Iago: (showing concern)How are you doing man?

Cassio: Not too good, they shot me.

Iago: Someone get the lights damn it! In the meantime, I’ll try to stop the bleeding with my shirt.

Bianca enters.

Bianca: What’s up with all this chaos.

Iago: Who’s that?

Bianca: (puts her hand over her mouth with the shock to see Cassio in his state)Cassio! Oh my God! Cassio!

Iago: (to Bianca)Shut up, you whore(to Cassio)Do you know who shot you?

Cassio: No.

Gratiano joins them.

Gratiano: Bloody hell. What happened? Cassio, I’ve been looking for you everywhere.

Iago: Somebody call an ambulance.

Bianca: Hurry, he’s hurt.

Iago: Bianca has something to do with this. That slut! I knew she had something to do with this. Cassio be careful, here let me lend you a hand.(he sees Roderigo coming; to Gratiano)Do you recognize him? It’s Roderigo.

Gratiano: Yes I do, he’s from New York, right?

Iago: Yeah that’s right. That’s him.

Roderigo all of a sudden drops dead on the floor. An ambulance comes.

Iago: Finally it has come.(to Bianca)Why don’t you just go home.(to Cassio)Why did Roderigo shoot you?

Cassio: (being put on the stretcher)I don’t even know him.

Both Cassio and Roderigo are taken away. Emilia enters.

Iago: (to Bianca) You don’t look too good. You slut! Something tells me that you have got to do with all of this.

Emilia: What’s the matter Iago?

Iago: Roderigo and some other men who escaped have injured Cassio. Cassio’s been taken to the hospital... nearly dieing. As for Roderigo he’s already dead.

Emilia: Oh no poor Cassio. He was a fine man, Cassio.

Iago: Emilia go to Cassio when he’s in a better condition and ask him where he has been at dinner.(to Bianca)Does that make you nervous, huh, Bianca?

Bianca: Cassio was at my house eating dinner with me. And tell me why would I be nervous?

Iago: Oh really is that so.(to Bianca)You need to come with me.

Emilia: You b****!

Bianca: If I’m a bitch what does that make you?

Emilia: F*** you!

Iago: (to the others)Let’s go and see how Cassio is doing. Emilia go tell Othello and Desdemona what happened. (to Bianca)And you missy, come with us and in the meantime you can tell us another fabricated story.

They all exit.

Othello Cast

Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler as Gratiano is another interesting choice; Gratiano is a kinsman of Desdemona’s father. We chose he because his physical powerfulness seemed liked it would fit him to be a kinsman.

Othello Cast

Al Pacino
Al Pacino as Montano was a no-brainer; Montano is the Governor of Cyprus. Pacino is the final piece of this play and he really holds the cast together with his experience.

Othello Cast

Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba as Bianca was a tough decision. Bianca is a courtesan in the play and she becomes very close with Cassio. Alba is a considerably new actress who has not had many roles but this role could possibly skyrocket an already bright career.

Othello Cast

Megan Fox
Megan Fox as Emilia was an easy choice; Emilia is the wife of Iago she is and attendant of Desdemona she is a very cynical character. Fox is one of those up and coming actresses who are fit to play many roles and one of those roles is Emilia.

Othello Cast

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise as Lodovico was an interesting choice; Lodovico was a messenger that only appears in ACT IV he is the perennial “bearer of bad news”. We chose Cruise because he is not only a strong lead character he also plays a very good supporting actor.

Othello Cast

Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston was chosen to play the role of Desdemona the Venetian bride of Othello. Not only did the physical features of Aniston fit the character of Desdemona but also her will and determination. Desdemona remains loyal to Othello throughout the play although portrayed differently by Iago.

Othello Cast

Omar Epps
Omar Epps was a perfect fit to play the strong willed Othello. Epps who is a strong actor alone does not posses the physical power that a past Othello might have possessed but the quick witted Epps has transcended the character.

Othello Cast

Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves was the perfect actor to play Michael Cassio; his look really defines Cassio’s character in the play. Cassio is Othello’s lieutenant he is young and loyal to Othello. He is a perfect fit to be used by Iago to play Othello into thinking his friendship with Desdemona is more than it really is.

Othello Cast

Johnny Depp
We chose Johnny Depp as the actor to play Roderigo because he is a multi-talented actor who can play many roles. Depp is the kind of actor that will do anything to get into character. In the play Roderigo is jealous of Othello because he has Desdemona’s love and he is desperate to win her.

Othello Cast

James Franco
I chose James Franco to play Iago in the remake of the play Othello because he is a strong character. As shown in his past on screen roles he plays the sly, conniving villain very well. He is a multitalented actor who can portray many personas. The persona of Iago in the play is the sneaky backstabbing villain.

25 Word Short Story

Game Time

It was the fourth quarter and the reigning city champs, Brooklyn Warriors were all ready to abdicate their title. The team was tired and they did not want to fight on. They seamed to have lost their fight and that infuriated the coach and the seniors. Senior middle linebacker and defensive captain gave his defense a belligerent speech being careful not to belittle their efforts. The opposing team who were 10 point favorites in the game were playing so jovial, and even seemed a little pretentious on the field. Seeing their opponents celebrate on the side lines manifested the malicious and merciless play that was coming from the little team from Brooklyn. As the defense got into position on the field the play seemed to slow down. All of the sudden in stead of ten yard gains for the other team it was five yard losses. The Warriors play had become bestial and they were yearning to get back on defense, see although their offense had become inadequate they knew if they could just play good fundamental offense by not turning the ball over they could still win. The defense was playing with no clemency they were making tackles and not giving up any extra yardage. The Warriors were trying to hinder the defamation of their reputation, and if it is the last thing they did they were going to enfeeble the mind state of their opponents. The Warriors had to implicate just how must they loathed their opponents. With one minute left in the game the freshman strong safety just a neophyte, although a veteran in his own right made a very big interception, which gave the Warriors the ball down by five at the 30 yard line. It was now requisite that the Warriors score or lose the game. The coach pulled his quarter back to the side and with a fiery stare he gave him the play. The offense got in position and the quarterback began to decipher the opposing defense, reading the defense he changes the play to a run, he calls the play and the half back runs for no gain. As the quarterback walked to the sideline you could hear the coach condemn him from the stands. With the clock continuing to run and no time outs left the warriors had to act with haste. It was vital that the Warriors score on the next play. The next play of the game would define the senior quarterback’s career. The ball was snapped and the quarter back dropped back, had time he looked left and nobody was open, the pocket was begging to close on him steps up and has time looks right and sees his tight end running toward the corner, he fires into the end zone as he is hit from the blind side, the ball is up and the tight end came down with it. The crowd roars and the team begins to celebrate with vivacity in the middle of the field.

Opinion Essay

William Shakespeare's "sonnet 29" When in disgrace with fourtune and men's eyes" expresses the strongest commitment to a lover relationship. Shakespeare doesn't write your ordinary relationship poems as seen in this sonnet in particular. In "sonnet 29" Shakespears has the man in the relationship talking about his own short commings and then rejoycing when he realizes how lucky he is for the love he has for his woman.
I think this sonnet expresses the strongest commitment to a lover relationship because in a relationship it is easy to bring up your partners faults, but it takes true love to recognize your own faults. In line "4-7" the man talks about how he wishes he was as rich, smart, talented, and as good looking as other men, but never once brings up any of his partners flaws. In fact the only time he speaks about his partner is when he states how happy she makes him.
This is Shakespeare's ultimate lover relationship sonnet. The biggest part of the sonnet is the couplet or modern day puchline. From my experience the best way to win a woman's heart is with a strategically placed sincere compliment. Shakespeare does that by saying that he would not trade places with a King if it meant losing his love.

Character Sketch

Character Sketch: take any of the sonnets and get an image from (online, magazine, personal pictures etc. please cite your sources i.e. url, name of magazine etc.) that you think represents one of a character in one of the poems and write a paragraph on why this image captures the character in your selected poem.

I chose to pick the womsn described in "Sonnet 130". The picture is of Jessica Alba and although many people think she is beautiful, a lot of people think she is still missing something. Today many people have differn't views of what makes a women beautiful, and in "Sonnet 130" the speaker describes all of the flaws of the women he loves, but the kicker is he still loves her. That is why I chose Jessica Alba because although she might not be perfect in every way, to me she is the most beautiful woman alive.
