25 Word Short Story

Game Time

It was the fourth quarter and the reigning city champs, Brooklyn Warriors were all ready to abdicate their title. The team was tired and they did not want to fight on. They seamed to have lost their fight and that infuriated the coach and the seniors. Senior middle linebacker and defensive captain gave his defense a belligerent speech being careful not to belittle their efforts. The opposing team who were 10 point favorites in the game were playing so jovial, and even seemed a little pretentious on the field. Seeing their opponents celebrate on the side lines manifested the malicious and merciless play that was coming from the little team from Brooklyn. As the defense got into position on the field the play seemed to slow down. All of the sudden in stead of ten yard gains for the other team it was five yard losses. The Warriors play had become bestial and they were yearning to get back on defense, see although their offense had become inadequate they knew if they could just play good fundamental offense by not turning the ball over they could still win. The defense was playing with no clemency they were making tackles and not giving up any extra yardage. The Warriors were trying to hinder the defamation of their reputation, and if it is the last thing they did they were going to enfeeble the mind state of their opponents. The Warriors had to implicate just how must they loathed their opponents. With one minute left in the game the freshman strong safety just a neophyte, although a veteran in his own right made a very big interception, which gave the Warriors the ball down by five at the 30 yard line. It was now requisite that the Warriors score or lose the game. The coach pulled his quarter back to the side and with a fiery stare he gave him the play. The offense got in position and the quarterback began to decipher the opposing defense, reading the defense he changes the play to a run, he calls the play and the half back runs for no gain. As the quarterback walked to the sideline you could hear the coach condemn him from the stands. With the clock continuing to run and no time outs left the warriors had to act with haste. It was vital that the Warriors score on the next play. The next play of the game would define the senior quarterback’s career. The ball was snapped and the quarter back dropped back, had time he looked left and nobody was open, the pocket was begging to close on him steps up and has time looks right and sees his tight end running toward the corner, he fires into the end zone as he is hit from the blind side, the ball is up and the tight end came down with it. The crowd roars and the team begins to celebrate with vivacity in the middle of the field.

Opinion Essay

William Shakespeare's "sonnet 29" When in disgrace with fourtune and men's eyes" expresses the strongest commitment to a lover relationship. Shakespeare doesn't write your ordinary relationship poems as seen in this sonnet in particular. In "sonnet 29" Shakespears has the man in the relationship talking about his own short commings and then rejoycing when he realizes how lucky he is for the love he has for his woman.
I think this sonnet expresses the strongest commitment to a lover relationship because in a relationship it is easy to bring up your partners faults, but it takes true love to recognize your own faults. In line "4-7" the man talks about how he wishes he was as rich, smart, talented, and as good looking as other men, but never once brings up any of his partners flaws. In fact the only time he speaks about his partner is when he states how happy she makes him.
This is Shakespeare's ultimate lover relationship sonnet. The biggest part of the sonnet is the couplet or modern day puchline. From my experience the best way to win a woman's heart is with a strategically placed sincere compliment. Shakespeare does that by saying that he would not trade places with a King if it meant losing his love.

Character Sketch

Character Sketch: take any of the sonnets and get an image from (online, magazine, personal pictures etc. please cite your sources i.e. url, name of magazine etc.) that you think represents one of a character in one of the poems and write a paragraph on why this image captures the character in your selected poem.

I chose to pick the womsn described in "Sonnet 130". The picture is of Jessica Alba and although many people think she is beautiful, a lot of people think she is still missing something. Today many people have differn't views of what makes a women beautiful, and in "Sonnet 130" the speaker describes all of the flaws of the women he loves, but the kicker is he still loves her. That is why I chose Jessica Alba because although she might not be perfect in every way, to me she is the most beautiful woman alive.
